Major cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Deribit swiftly revoked API keys linked to derivatives platform SignalPlus following a security breach. The exploit originated when attackers successfully compromised an engineer's computer via a malicious Microsoft Teams meeting invitation. Although the breach resulted in total financial losses of less than $82,000, SignalPlus quickly stepped forward to pledge full reimbursement to affected users. The incident highlights the persistent vulnerability of software development supply chains and third-party integrations within the digital asset ecosystem. Cybersecurity experts have repeatedly warned about sophisticated social engineering tactics targeting individual employees to bypass perimeter defenses.
